Volunteer to Teach English in Ecuador
Experience the Andes while teaching in a camp for children.
The Andes highlands, also known as Sierra and home of the Avenue of the Volcanoes, is flanked by eight dizzyingly-high snow-mantled mountains that are the perfect setting to volunteer. The program takes place at Pablo Arenas, a village in Ecuador with an elevation of 2,378 meters. Referred to as the balcony of Imbabura, it sits high giving a magnificent view of its surroundings. The spring like weather year-round and high altitude allow for cultivation of coffee, potatoes, avocadoes, and banana crops in the same place.
The camp provides children with five hours of English language lessons daily, mixed with environmental education for a period of two weeks. The lessons will be conducted by a volunteer native English speaker and assistants, while nature experts will be in charge of the environmental education portion of the curriculum.
The objective of this program is to contribute to the development of children through a mixture of English classes and environmental education in what is called “English Summer Camp”.
Ecuador tourism is in need of its people to know at least basic knowledge of the English language; it is also essential for individuals to understand the ecosystem and their role in protecting the environment and their appreciation of the land for a sustainable future.
